Self-Development Activism

I`ve been thinking a lot about my future lately. And they way I’m taking now is leading me to an average life, which I DON’T want. I don’t want to spend my life working as a lawyer or salesman or something like that, I can’t stand to do the same thing every single day. Of course I am not the only one who doesn’t want an average life. I live in Norway and it feels like I`m trapped here, and there`s like no way out. I want to explore the world as much as possible. And there are so many things I have to do before I die. The world has so much to offer and so many people are choosing to live an average life. But do they ever think that it’s what they will be doing for the rest of their life?

When the world has so much to offer, I can`t stand to sit here and keep on with my normal life, and not try to get a unique life!

So exactly what is a average life? You have yet to answer that one.. Because, going by the examples given; I'm sure the person working at McDonalds flipping burgers, hoping to attain that employee of the month award does not think being a lawyer is average.

I am studying to be a software engineer, something in the computer business. At's average, too? It pays well, you get to be creative in your own way and build programs which people use. Like this Ning network your currently on. Is it pure paradise? Like hell it is. But it's a job I can see myself doing in a routine(having your own business or not doesn't really matter)- Work is work because things need to get done. If everyone just stopped working because it's 'too average', then what's left? Not much I guess, so whose alowed to not be average.. You?

Point I'm trying to make is, almost everyone regrets something what they've done or not, but seeing as your still here and not 5ft under, what's to stop you from aiming above that 'average life'? You put the average life label on and only you can decide what's average for you- we can't. Since your the one with your definition of a average life, then your the one who needs to aim above that.

k, an average life is doing what millions of other people are doing for a living every single day for the rest of your life.

THe funny thing is that no matter what you choose to do for a living there is a very high chance that more than a million of the world's population is already doing it :P

An average life is one that you are merely content with. People everywhere live ordinary lives doing ordinary things. Do you know which ones live the most fulfilling lives? The ones that find happiness in what they do.

You see, it isn't about what we do, it is about how we experience what we do.

You can spend your whole life traveling, taking in culture and environment, and then on your death bed realize you never stopped to really enjoy any of it.

People can do the same thing day in and day out and hate it.

People can also be everywhere and do everything without stopping for one second just to live.

The purpose of life is to live and find happiness, while balancing out everything else that might throw you off the path to happiness.

Happiness, is of course, purely subjective, so yours might look a bit different than someone elses.

Good luck my friend.

Life is really quite useless, even if you get to travel and see what the world has to offer, so what?

Not like it's going to give you any further satisfaction than living a normal life, nor is it going to have an impact on anything. Even if there were a "bigger picture" to have an impact on.

The best thing one can do is just to do whatever makes you happy, but you gotta take the boring times as well so you can get by. No work and all play is not goin to work ;)

Yeah, ur right. the point of life IS finding happiness and balance the nature of life and enjoy everysingle minute of it. But thats exactly what Im looking for. I need to find what I can do for a living for the rest of my life and still keep my self happy and enjoy life. If I cant enjoy life, its not worth living. and I cant just sit around and wait for everything to take a big turn and all of a sudden Im happy. So the main problem is to find out where I belong. One thing is for sure! I am not going to spend my life in Norway! :)

And now seriously: What is it that you enjoy doing in your free time? What are your hobbies? Find out what you like to do and try to see what kind of career you can build on your skills.
