I was just on youtube, and I found this..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YersIyzsOpc&feature=related

I was wondering how people end up like this.
Is it after many hours of gameplay you just cant stand to leave your character?
Or right after something good happens, and you have to quit, you go insane?

IDK but personally I think the government should make Games such as WoW harder to access.

That doesnt really make much sense, (and I like MMO's) but honestly, so much money is spent on education, and Games like WoW/Runescape/Maplestory ruin much of that. (I dont like the fact of the government taking control, but I mean, sometimes Games can be worse than drugs)

They really seem to have a devastating impact on some people. Its so hard to watch.

I remember when I was younger, I would only be allowed to play games for about an hour a day.

Now when I have no limits, I realize games can really waste your life. Some people are just missing that concept, that all things should be taken in moderation.

Whats the worst thing you've done over a game?
For me: My mom broke my laptop, so I went outside in 15 degree weather, and wouldn't come inside until my step dad drove by me and literally picked me up and pulled me into the car lol. (hes big).

I agree in saying that the government does not need to 'take more control' of games such as WOW/RS (or any MMO really). If the government/s do anything it should be to promote moderation amoungst the young now that moderation for everything is good.

Games are great in a lot of ways. They can teach you to be determined (in setting goals and achieveing them), playing socially (as most games have multiplayer now), team building and puzzle solving.

Wasting your life? If you're enjoying it then it's not a waste of time. Maybe when others look at it, but sometimes you have to be selfish.

I strongly agree, it is about freedom, and the schools should teach moderation at an early age. It is actually a very good concept to learn for future life and is possibly understandable by young children.

This goes with all things, not only games but money spending habits, etc...

first off that was a sick, bordering on scary, video. to quote a youtube viewer, i'm surprised he didn't turn into the hulk.

just started on mafia wars on facebook, and it can get quite addictive. i regularly play L4D, a few PopCap games, and some Diablo II (whenever i feel a bit nostalgic). i can't remember if i freaked out ever over a game. or did anything even in the distant horizon of what this kid accomplished. worst thing i did over a game? i dunno...stay up for 24 hours just finish it?

this kind of reaction just shows the poor level of family kids and teenagers nowadays have, when parents aren't as involved with their kids' habits and interests. i'm actually wondering his the mom deleted his WoW account. O.o

When the kid in that video started putting the remote in his anus, I stopped believeing it was real. But none the less stuff like this does happen, and I think the outrageous behaviour is down to the individual.

I think it was real still haha, you can do crazy things when your mad, and the acting is too realistic.

It's fake, sorry to burst your bubble.

well, he was trying to get...

umm...freaky...

note: i think i'd actually do the hitting-my-head-with-a-shoe bit if i'd lost my cellular...for the 5th time. LOL.

the government doesn't need to "take control" ... its about freedom .....if i want to ruin my life or waste my time let me ruin or waste my time ....its about choice ... you see all the warnings "very addictive game" and you still play it ....its like drugs you know they are addictive but you chose to take them or not ... i played wow but i realized that i lost good years of my life doing what ? nothing that stimulates my intelligence , my body , my creativity nothing ...and I CHOSE to do something different something that stimulates my intelligence , my body , my creativity .... all i am saying is that everybody needs to chose between whats wrong to him and whats good to him

I do not believe in game addictions, you can acctually do anything too much for it to be healthy but gaimz just happen to be so comfortable. The worst thing I've done over a game is probably when I started ditching real life events for it (I just happened to need that drop from the next boss in the raid). I countered it by not playing games that require me to stay online for long periods of time (like raiding and running instances in wow does) and started playing games CS and Wc3. Which both allows me to log out pretty much whenever I want to log out.

Well, the way I see it, most addictions come from a much deeper root cause. It just so happens than given the popularity of gaming, certain games seem to relieve an individual from whatever issue that stems from that root cause.

WoW is a game that requires a great investment of time, and for which rewards seem big, not only in terms of accomplishments, but also in terms of bragging rights. What I mean by that is that it's way more satisfying for one's ego to pwn 7 million people than a few dozens. So that's quite the incentive if you have self-confidence issues (not saying that every WoW player has those issues, but rest assured there are some).

I've been somewhat addicted to WoW when I first started it about a year ago, but once I saw the time investment I had to make to get to end-game content, I told myself "F*** it!", and left.

I replaced WoW by DDR (which I used to play a lot a few years ago), and the benefits of this change are real! :)

As for the worst thing I did over a game... it was with my good ole NES, playing the original Dragon Warrior. I don't even remember what I got pissed at, but I was reeeeally pissed nevertheless. During gameplay, I opened the lid, slapped the shiiiee out of the cartridge, which of course screwed the game up. A couple of minutes later, I put the cartridge back in, only to find that the savefile got nuked because of what I did! Oddly, the only thing I ended up telling myself was "Well... you kinda asked for it..."

On this day, I learned that RAAAAGE = deleted save file. So now I avoid raging at all costs! :D
