I Just Don't Give A Fuck Anymore....Cure For Appathy, Anyone?

I used to care a lot of the opinions of the others. After learning more and more about others I stopped caring. The main reason I think this happened was that most people seem to be, extremely fucking stupid.

I didn't stop caring about the issues and events that were dear to me. I'm not depressed about my own life. However I think the causes that often mean so much to others just don't grip me anymore.

I do my part with issues like homelessness, diseases and a few other mildly important causes but I think certain things just don't bother me anymore.

Religious persecution doesn't do anything for me at all anymore because I think religion is a tool that does wonders for the common idiots and powerful who seek to maintain control over them. I am not even the 'agnostic' I once thought of myself as... I'm a good natured atheist who looks down on the devoted worshippers as pathetic simpletons, too stupid to realize how pointless their faith is. I somehow managed to not become a horrible person even without god in my life. I guess morals and ethics are enough for me. In turn, when I hear of religious 'war' or 'persecution' I think of it as I do children fighting over toys.

That's only one example... I have many more that more or less come off as me being some snob with a superiority complex... maybe it's true but I JUST DON'T FUCKING CARE ANYMORE.

Should I embrace my newfound indifference? Or try to rekindle some facet of empathy I once prided myself in being full of?

Try to rekindle your empathy. A good way I found to do this is to start doing some of the things you used to love doing, but for some reason haven't been doing for awhile. I used to feel the same, very indifferent. But I started going to concerts and stuff, something I hadn't done in forever, and instantly I felt revitalized! Give it a try, if it doesn't help, pick up some new hobbies.

I think you're giving too much caring for things that always have been part of mankind and that because of that you might be getting dragged down the way you are, You should just ignore things that don't affect your life in a direct way and also you should try always jus to do your best with whatever you like and makes you feel distracted 'cause that's actually the most important thing in your life, I've felt like you before because of some personal issues but later I got used to it and eventually got over that apathy just by remembering why I wanted to walk the path I had chosen in my life, I guess you need time to think and to revamp your points of view so just give it some time and get somewhat reflexive hope it helps you out.

I am helping him by letting him know my opinion on what this is, the answer to the question he posted isn't so hard to answer,

Yes ofcourse he should embrace his newfound indifference since we are all different as humans and all of us don't think with the same brain, but also since we are all in one society and are affected by one-another we should also have some insight on someones opinion too and see the reason why that isn't for you or why it is an idiotic way of life,

So in other words, luckily for him there is a 3rd choice of doing both of the things (embracing indifference and rekindling empathy)

This discussion feels like it is more aimed at bashing religion than asking should I be a snob or be an understanding person?

If you are in the middle of something, finding the answer isn't always the easiest. Looking in on someone else life it is usually a lot easier to make calls about what to do, because you aren't involved. Giving and answer like "This is Bull" is not helping in the least. If you say WHY it is bull, then yeah sure maybe. But it's like having a really complex maths problem and someone asking "Can someone explain to me how this works?" You come along and go "It's easy" And leave. There is absolutely 0 help right there, and that's what I believe you just did. In your reply to me, that would would have helped more.

No, it really is easy, there aren't alot of choices and there isn't a wrong one/one that brings any serious consequences, this question is equivalent to choosing between a Pepsi or a Coke,
