I agree with Paladin.
How can knowledge ever "make one miserable," if the only thing that is a true factor in making someone miserable, is the individual him/herself? One chooses to be miserable or not, "good" and "bad" are completely subjective, relative terms. One simply chooses if things are "good enough." The world could be a horrible place, it could also be a wonderful place. There are a lot of things that are currently going very well that could possibly fail, it's just easier to see flaws. I can't imagine what the best possibly functioning world would look like, and I can't imagine what the worst possibly functioning world would look like. There could always be better or worse, and the current state is very "average."
Happiness isn't delusion. To be deluded someone would have to correctly disagree with that reality. No one is going to (correctly) tell you you're wrong in being blissful, because only you can truly say that you are happy. Nothing but the individual has a say in that.
I think enlightenment in this sense comes from realization of the fact that "happiness"/"contentment" is the one core thing people seek for in life, our core motivation, and in reality the individual is the only entity that has control over this. So, you don't have to be deluded to be happy; you can be, but if you are "deluded" solely in happiness it doesn't matter. You've already won.
Miserably Realistic. My Goals in life depend on me being grounded, and it is far easier for me to stop being miserable then it is to stop being deluded.

There are two ways I suppose this question could have been taken. Large scale and small scale.
The question, it would seem, that most of you saw was in the small scale meaning either blissfully unaware or unhappily wary of the problems at hand in your daily life.
What I thought and what my intention was when I posed the query was in the large scale. The problems affecting the world such as net neutrality, esoteric societies, pandemic, and new world order is what I intended the thread to pertain to.
Would you rather take the burden of knowing of the coming storm or continue to worry about whether or not Jenny in accounting notices your new tie?
However, it is just as well that you all seem to have taken it in a different direction. Otherwise there may not have been the opportunity to have this version of the discussion.
Nick speaks the truth. If it bothers you so much then dont go near anywhere that celebrates it.
I'm not gunna go to the middle east because I can't stand their backward ass culture, I'm not gunna sit and bitch and whine about their backwardassness…
