First off, I'm pretty sure most of you have seen and or played this game before.WoW (World of Warcraft), one of the most successful MMORPG made by Blizzard Entertainment that ruin families lives and big money makers for the company. Never put your children near that game or you will see a major behavior change within them when they start playing.

After a few weeks of pulling myself off of WoW, it's been done. I finally have quit WoW for good, I'm not going back because it took me a lot of practice from keeping myself away from that game. It's a black hole I tell ya, but I had stayed away from the game to try to spend time with the family a bit more. I enjoy it being with my family now than I did with WoW. I used to be so annoyed by my brother coming in and asking what I was doing and I'd end up almost blowing up. Gamers do not like to be interrupted. I told myself something had to change, it's been sucking me in for 3 years almost and that's way more than enough. So I prohibited myself from playing it for a few weeks, now I feel better than ever.People at school have seen a behavior change in me. My grades going up. Friends are actually talking to me more. Even the teachers noticed a change in my class participation and homework assignments are now being passed in on time.

What have I gotten rid of? A terrible WoW addiction.

What have I developed? To learn how to control my anger, to limit my time between computer and family and to keep myself away from extremely addicting games like that.

Haha wish I was fortunate as you but then again, I haven't allowed WoW to become an addiction to an extreme level. I manage to stop everything whenever I want to but I'd still like to quit the game. Especially with exam period starting for me I just had to stop it completely but at the same time so many other things are still distracting me from studying such as Facebook, MSN, etc. I personally have never had any barriers due to playing the game or any low grades but some people get more addicted than others and the more addicted you are the harder it is to quit it. I'm glad you've made that step because by looking at what you've said had changed means it was extremely beneficial. It's also impressive that you haven't suffered from any withdrawal symptoms :P I tend to look for another game once I get bored with a current one I play (Yes, i've gotten bored of WoW several times, it is possible!)
Anyways, congrats on ridding yourself from this habbit :)

Personally I am still trying to quit this shit game :P
I have also played it for around 3 years but recently it has started becoming really boring, but still i cant resist to go online just to spend some time... Dont really have much else to do to be honest =/

And i have to agree on WoW giving aggression problems :P
Hopefully I can stop playing it soon and get abit more social =)

Its a good thing you managed to quit playing WoW =) Wish me luck :P

Congratulations man, I've quit the american servers of WoW for almost the same reason. The guild I was in really really pissed me off. Don't get me wrong they're great guys but, they just took the game -WAY- too seriously and I did not want to be pissed over something such as that more than I already was.

Now I still do play on the European servers as the folks there are much more laid back.

And then you'll remember what made the game so good, and come back! It always draws you back in! Mwahahahaha...

No seriously, it does. I stopped for 6 months, and I just went crazy and bought WOTLK.

FML.

lol...in my case, it's the other way around.... i usually cant find motivation to play WoW. Mainly because it's hard to me to find party (cuz i suck at WoW and i'm bad at communicating...even on internet). So i play from time to time when i find motivation, but not that often.

But that's a major victory on your part. To deny yourself something you really like (but is bad for you) takes quite a bit of mental strength.

Thanks everyone =) I noticed that I payed attention yesterday in Math I did a lot better than I usually do on a state test. I was the first to finish by going over the day before almost all the unit for a few moments. Not day dreaming about WoW.

Hmm.. Stopped WoW about 2/3 months ago after playing it for a year, which had near-month like breaks as well. Game became to easy and boring.

But to be honest, I'm getting the urge to play again. Good thing my cashflow doesn't alow for it :-)

Hey congrats! im going thru a similar thing atm. Ive stopped for a good few months but not thru choice (crappy comp).I was hiding behind the 'safety' of WoW pushing my problems to the back of my mind. Whilst playing WoW i had mood changes, lost alot of really good friends that i needed in my life. But as time goes on you get stronger, begin to enjoy real life and what it has to offer. I was very lucky to have such great friends that understood and still with me to this day. So enjoy everyday u can!

Hope all your studies go well!
