I’m not so sure if the name is misleading or just what people think about it.
That and people don't uite literally mean something as vague as a single term quite often they have some obstrucely narrow notion for which they are using obstrucely imprecise words to describe.

Taoism and satanism is nothing like each other :P

Sideways: You realise, ofcourse, that Satan is largely a persona from christianity. If you want to accept Satan, you would have to accept where he comes from.

On a slightly off topic note: Satanism hardly has anything to do with Satan or religion itself :P

translation:
1."Prepare to die if you dont recognize that the true god is:"..."YAVE"..."ALA"..."JESUS"
2."STOP!!! What really matters is to live in harmony as brothers...that you consacreate it to god, thats secondary
3."Atheist!!!", "Secularist!!!", "Degenerate!!!"

ppl invented religion to get a «holy shoulder» to lean upon, freeing them of their responsabilities, giving them hope; that's why so many mobs and dum ppl are religious. When you really think about it, worshipping a god makes no sense, as that doesn't get us any benefits,or miracles and if it apparently does, thats because

a)its a coincidence;
b)the person exagerated facts to turn them into what he or she would rlly like to happen, without seeing the rational explanation;
c)the person alucinates;
d)the person needs attention;
e)the person just follows others without questioning.

Plus, if we take a look at how religion shifts according to the needs of a nation or the era it is in, you cna understand what i said better. It is a proof - not that there isn't a god, but that religion is stupid.

However, some organisation in the universe leads me to the belief of a force that doesn't necessarily speak to us or something but is the own shaping of the world.

To put the reasoning that Dan's "Color of gravity" perspective makes apparant into words...

There are many things that we do not know for certain; arguably everything. For instance 2+2=4, we can never be sure of this as there is the possibility that aliens have messed with our minds for thousands of years and made us believe falsly that 2+2=4 as an example and in reality people {At least most people I would think} do not presume they are right about it just as people I do not think presume they are right or wrong about god, however, people do find the chance of such things as god and 2+2=4 to be soo incredibly low and high that it is not worth worrying about at all and worth just saying that we know 2+2=4 rather than we know that 2+2 probably equals 4 as than people would have to be constantly saying exactly how probable it is and it would take up to much of time.

And so Sanjay in cases like this it is ok to presume that your right.

Sanjay Prakash, you're not an atheist, you're agnostic. You chose to believe that there is no god, but make the decision based on the evidence (or lack of) concerning the existance of god.

To be a true atheist is, as you say, rather ignorant. I myself is an agnostic aswell, but i am "so agnostic" that its simply easier to call myself an atheist. Should someone provide me with any real evidence, i will reevaluate my position, but since i have found none to this.. fairy tale, i have no reason to believe in it. I think its fairly safe to say that i shouldn't just "let there be room for oppotunity" when there is nothing to back up the theory in the first place. Its like saying "I think gravity is purple": In 2000 years we find no evidence for the color of gravity, but people will still go "Well, maybe we will never know the color of gravity, but we shouldn't close our minds to it"
Sanjay Prakash Comment by Sanjay Prakash on May 21, 2009 at 2:10pm
I am an atheist, But i think to rule out the existance of a god altogether is to be as ignorant as those who whom do the opposite. We can, never be sure, and to presume you are right shows stupidity whether your are religious or not. There may be a god but i do not expect it/him/her to be anything like the christian or islamic god

Gods are fragile things; they may be killed by a whiff of science or a dose of common sense.

In my opinion, I don't think its true (or even right) to say that your a "good" or "bad" person if you don't want to go out and help out in third world countries. I think it would be a bit biased to say that because you can't just judge a person o...
