If gay marriage is ok... why not polygamy? 8 Replies

Isn't what we are saying when we say we want gay marriage is that it is nobody's business whom we love or why? If marriage is there to grant us legal rights when we decide we want our relationship ...

Nasty thing. It´s a shame that people still have to be afraid of for simply trying to be themselves. I too can´t imagine why it should be a sin if you love somebody. Hearing such kind of stuff, I feel ashamed being a uman sometimes. The same shit like racism and all this stupid, wrongheaded bullshit. In my opinion, one of the reasons for this is that most people are simply afraid of things they don´t know. Growing up in a small village, I experienced this shit many times during my childhood. lthough I´m not gay, some good friends of mine are. And I know how it feels walking cross a street, thinking bout nothing bad and a voice hits your back like a knife quoting shit like "Piss of fucking buttmen" or stuff like this. Once we were on the verge of turning roun and showing those assholes how a "fairy" could mash someones face (the buddy who was with me is a 1.85 meter tallstanding and burly building worker.)

And Dylan, having lost a friend of mine by lung cancer (he was 18 years old) I know how this shit feels. I feel with you man.

I don't mind gays but just like straight people I don't like them being too sexual in public. I don't wanna hear about their sex lives. I'll vote for their right to marry now that I'm not a stupid dumbass--thank science I'm not Christian anymore and not like my cousins. I believe gays have a purpose in society to take care of the children that straight people don't want. To me humans are just humans, many irrational and stupid ones but also many brilliant and responsible ones.

{repost from Introduce yourself page - up front gets more action, no?}

Hello everyone - My name's Stuart and I joined I Power yesterday and this group just a few moments ago. I'm a guy that likes other guys. I have long had a problem with the labels wrapped around this particular segment of society. "Gay" seems to be a socio-cultural tag that has more to do with how one dresses, moves one's hands while talking and how many Celine Dion CDs one owns. "Homosexual" is just too clinical and "queer" anymore has political overtones (gotta be different, just like all the other queers!) All that being said, I can say that I am neither proud nor ashamed of the fact that I relate to other men on a sexual and emotional level. I am pro-marriage for anyone who wants to enter into that kind of contract. I tend to have fairly fluid opinions on most social and political issues and questions, except for concepts of personal freedom. As soon as our thoughts and ideas and our ability to communicate them is put in danger by the control freaks of governments and corporations then it's time to take action. And the best way to do that? I'm not sure - maybe that's why I'm here at I Power.

Okay. Off the soap box.

I've got a beagle named Max, I write and play music, have a degree in Fine Art and work as a computer geek for far less money than I (think I ) need - sigh. I'm also unashamed of my love for chocolate, french fries and Star Trek. And I don't own ANY Celine Dion CDs.
