I would think it is safe to say that the there is almost always a story behind each tattoo. In some cases people are literally a walking storybook! I find the meaning behind it all to be fascinating – but definitely did my homework on what to look for before going in for mine. I’ll post my particular story a bit later and will definitely be looking for input on how I can enhance it. I never thought I would have one done, but I’m hooked now ;)

I like it Jack, mine is pretty simplistic too, more tribal looking, but as my body has changed (i lost a lot of weight from when i was sick) the tatoo changed too, which was cool because it is a phoenix rising and it actually elongated like it was really rising :) I won't get any more work on it till the rest of the weight is off though - but I'm looking forward to it - thanks for sharing!

Oh, and I got it at 19.

First and only; pretty standard but I like it. Simple colouring, classic design with a modern, stylistic bent to it. I think.

Note how nicely the chin hair frames that lone freckle, lol!

Piercing and Tattooing, is a life preserver back to the heart of my true convictions. My first tattoo that I have, I got when I was 16, it stands for my rebellion and happiness. Knowing that one has control over one's own body is one of the building blocks of self-determination.

I admire the fact that you created your own.. if I had the ability to draw (hell I'm bad with crayons!) I would design my next one - I have a mental image... I just can't get it down on paper!!

On a side note, one of my best friends was 2 weeks from her due date with her 2nd child ... went for a regular doctors visit and the baby had died, she was induced and he was brought into this world full term at 8lbs .. His name was Cash - they took his footprints and had them inked on the back of their necks, the artwork was beautiful. Thank you "House of Ink" in Branson!

I drew these up for my left and right forearms.

Take Me Up

Cast Me Away

I'm big on Arthurian legend, and my favorite book of all time is probably "The Once and Future King." That in mind, I liked the symbolism of Excalibur coming from the Lady of the Lake, and having to be returned to her...hence the words "Take Me Up" and "Cast Me Away" on the blade; I actually had to do a bit of research to make the runes that would get those words across. :)

Anywho, hope ya'll like. I'll post pics of the final work when I get home.

I met a girl once who had stars and hearts on her wrists and between her thumb and pointer finger. Then i met another girl who had veins on her wrists and trailing down between her arm and pointer with flowers...I thought those were pretty thought I don't think I'd do it myself. I need to find something distinct for me if I ever have one.
