I think it is a buddhist saying or something.

"For the monk, observing the world in a very conscious way, life and pain live together at times. To live is to have pain at those times. The mother in labor, the child becoming a teenager, the adult losing a parent, anyone having surgery—pain comes with the territory and cannot be avoided. It is hardwired into life, just as the perception of pain is hardwired into our nervous system. It is inevitable…

However, the monk noticed that different approaches to the pain of life lead to much different responses to the pain. Some approaches can help us learn, others can trap us in suffering—the process of “holding” the pain in our lives on an ongoing basis. Sometimes, we all suffer with pain."

So it's about the pain of life in general. :)
Although I think it takes a lot of inner strenght to master the feeling of mental pain.

"pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional"

“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.”

"You cannot sit back and wait for breaks to come your way. They do not happen by hoping. They happen because of positive action. Maintain a positive attitude about anything that you want to achieve, and do what has to be done."

i cannot simply go about correcting any misconceptions i believe to have found in this most wonderful list, but i can offer food for thought.

if a break were to be the result of positive action, it would not be a break but a reward : )

if your positive attitude is of something you WANT (are lacking) then it is just as bad as hoping, and you are back to waiting for a break to come your way.

by changing your positive attitude to "waiting for" that break, then you are already certain it will come about. is that not the positivity you believe will yield the desired result?

It good that you spending so much energy looking and scouting things out. Most people just pick the first thing they find.

Joining a startup social networking site is apparently not that great for your training...I've been really active on here; haven't trained since Thursday of last week - which is unusual.

Lifting & karate tomorrow though!
