I thought I did, maybe my explanation of externalities has been poor. Do you understand what I mean when I talk about the economist’s concept of externalities?
Here’s the Wikipedia article on the subject, which will hopefully help to clarify thin...
I’m not sure what I asked which this would be an answer to, but since it has been brought up anyway…
I am well aware of how the free market functions and in particular how the energy market functions (owing to personal experience of working in it...
"I can recommend a book or two that get across everything I want to convey and far more in a much more eloquent manner."
Please do. I did ask if you could recommend a couple of books on the subjects which we have discussed here.
Wow, wow, wow, let’s take a step back here. I’m not advocating bigger government or more state involvement in such affairs, all I’m advocating is funding for basic provision of certain services to those who cannot afford them. These services (educ...
Thanks for the well thought-out and well worded criticism Daniel. You are of course correct that sometimes there are other reasons why we can’t behave in a particular way. I’m not sure I agree that it “encourages isolation and alienation from othe...
Hello rightwing.
You misunderstand what I mean by people affected by a trade but not involved in it. I do not mean that there are people who are not involved in any trade, I mean people who are not involved in a specific trade. Congestion on road...
Life's been interesting to say the least. Last night I got to break up a fist fight between two huge dudes (tall AND hefty). A guy and his brother in law who both had way too much to drink. They both love me now and keep grabbing me and squeezing me to prove it. Mexicans really are an emotional group. I don't know how to politely beg off the hugging thing but fortunately I'm checking out in the morning. LOL
Thanks very much, my friend. Though I won't be around here a great deal, I think. Just too depressing at least for the moment.

About Me:
Hi, I'm Ally, I'm a 24 year old British male. I've been a student for 5 out of the past 6 years, but have recently become a grown up and gotten myself a real job as an engineer. I don't smoke or use any drugs except alcohol. I enjoy reading and computer games (between them they take up most of my free time). I also have a black belt in Karate, but have been out of practice for the last few years because I wanted to concentrate on getting my degree. I don't get nearly enough exercise anymore, so I'm considering taking it up again or maybe trying something new after I'm settled in to my new job and my new home (with my fantastic girlfriend). Oh, and I recently learned how to juggle.

baby... you wouldnt know victory if it came up to you .. bent you over a table ... fucked you until you cried yourself to sleep hugging a "build-a-bear" teddy..then slapped you in the face in the morning and cum shot you right in the eye
In my opinion, I don't think its true (or even right) to say that your a "good" or "bad" person if you don't want to go out and help out in third world countries. I think it would be a bit biased to say that because you can't just judge a person o...
I also think that the more the media bombs us with horrible images, the less they start to mean to us& the less we f eel the need to do something. Sort of out of self-protection, because we see so many horrible things on the news every day. In Psy...
I don't necessarily feel guilty for being privileged. Mostly because we have no control over where we were born. What I *do* feel guilty about sometimes is not being more grateful, not realizing often enough how lucky I am. I can get upset over a ...
i feel kinda the same way about the news on tv .. There is very small amounts of positive things on it .
And it seems that things dont often make the news unless they are some tragic story. I choose to just not watch it . All of the stories on war...
It seems you have your answer. A good starting point when you are ready to start expanding your circle of influence or tackling more serious issues is to settle down and take some time to calmly and rationally consider what you have the ability to...
