I think the word insane is just an opinion on how someone acts. Someone who appears insane to one person could be normal to another. I think insane is just a way to describe things that people don't understand.
Honestly, I would have to say music (metal to be exact). A lot of the bands I listen to have really motivating and self empowering lyrics along with the heavy riffing and all that good stuff, It just really gets positive vibes and adrenaline going...
I don't really watch the news on tv. They always change peoples stories and pretty much just try to scare people like you said. They tend to drill into peoples brains as much negative stuff as they possibly can. They demonize the non-violent crime...
-travel to some other countries.
-stay as fit and healthy as possible.
-actually learn another language and stop procrastinating.
-help someone.
do you know your intervals and major and minor scales? You could learn the modes too. I've been using a book called "the complete idiots guide to music theory" it helps a lot with the basics of theory. You could probably find most of the this stuf...

Define Insanity?
Insane is another control word that works for the government(you get what I mean)...its someone that cannot be easily controlled by all their other methods so they pop on a negative word for it to deter people from it...they have many ways of deal...
