I think they are. quite simply I think you are right buddha is metaphorical what he was talking about is actual phenonemon, buddhism is known to be highly metaphorical even amongst practitioners.

I reckon that events can be manipulated in the immediate, short and long terms thru various methods (usually telepathically) buit i usually change some "luck" by working towards certain objectives
tell me is it by thinking that your "luck" can be manipulated, please give a recent example
anyway why are you asking me this ?
I more-or-less think that there are many paths we can choose and thru listening to our inner voice will lead one to the "lucky" way, that's how I feel about it for now anyways
