I think you are wrong. Just because Global Warming seems like some of the facts were fudged doesn't mean that pollution isn't still a problem. Acid rain is still on the rise, our air quality is rapidly degrading, and our water sources are starting...

Also, global warming has to do with the burning of gasses, coal, etc. Even if the byproducts of them being burned does not cause GW, it does release toxins into our air that we breathe. There is a cause to the sudden rise in asthma rates.

Back to "straight-edge"

During high school I was "straight-edge" which is a philosophy that practices the refusal to take any substances (alcohol, marijuana, etc.). I decided that a for a month before my 21st birthday (the legal age for drinking in the U.S.) that I am going to go back to being completely straight-edge. I am doing this not only because it is healthy for me, but also to practice some discipline. I've gotten soft and weak, and I need to concentrate on reality. There is so much in this world that I feel ne… Continue

Sunday/Monday (sorry for missing a post!)

Well, Sunday I spent some time researching different types of lifting routines that I could try out. I formulated a routine based off of what I found. I tried eating as healthy as I could. To reward my efforts for the day I went and saw one of my favorite bands (Strike Anywhere) play, and they were absolutely incredible! That night I had trouble sleeping though. I think the reason for this is that I had a lot on my mind, I've been kind of (especially after seeing Strike Anywhere play) going thro… Continue

Guess Who's Back!?!?

It's me again :) I've been starting to get a little soft so I was going to start another fitness week! Except this time, instead of it being a week, it's going to be a month (and hopefully longer... like the rest of my life longer)! Anyways, I'm going to be starting this Sunday. No more shitty food, and no more being lazy! Here we go again!

Major Changes!

Sorry I haven't been around in a while, I've been incredibly busy! This post is mostly going to be about how Ipower has changed me, and to give thanks to the community.

I first off want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to: Dean, Sophie, Josh, L.G., Kelly, and the rest of the community here. You guys are AWESOME! Without your support I don't think I would have ever had a monk mode. You guys have helped me change myself in amazing ways! I have loads of self-confidence now, I am no longer a… Continue

Monk Mode Made Permanent?

Yeah, that's right! One week just wasn't good enough for my subconscious! After a week of monk mode I've noticed that I've been actively self-developing myself at almost all times. Whenever I see an obstacle in my way I say "Yeah right! Give me something harder!" I work out like a triathlete, eat like an organic farm owner, and socialize like a social worker (except a little less annoying)!

But on a more serious note, I've been happier than I have in months after monk week. Before I started I r… Continue

Belief in a proposition such as god is not based on its usefulness. Usefulness is not a basis for belief. The only basis for belief is whether or not one perceives that belief to accurately describe a state of reality. One cannot literally believe...

This is another example of the destruction of language, and how difficult it makes discussion. Having concrete and universal definitions of words is essential to forward moving debate. Here the word religion has been expanded to the point of utte...

I think with any principle, its extremely important that your actions in relation to that principle be based on a logical system of rules. No principle should be accepted as axiomatic or above reproach.

Really interesting post Reese, just reading about thought loops and "letting go" sort of reminds me of a few people I know who took LSD and really seem to struggle with this sort of thing. Maybe i'll point them in this direction, thanks!
