Facts About Me...

1) I hate excessive technology! I only work with computers as a living because it's income bracket beats the pants off of my first choice, "Professional Philosopher"

2) I love anything spiritual. Religion, mysticism, ancient history, kundalini yoga, Armageddon... If it's related to divinity, I study it.

3) I look down upon the entirety of modern civilization. If you were to ask me why, my answer would be one word.
"Hubris"

4) I have a hero complex. It's probably unhealthy. Sometimes I drive around town patrolling for crimes I can stop. No, I don't wear a cape.

5) My favorite music stopped being made around 1985. If you see me jamming to some music you can't make out while I'm driving down the road, it's probably the Thriller album or Billy Joel.

6) I overcame a fear of spiders when I was a child and awoke with 400 or so newly hatched spiderlings crawling over my body in my New York basement apartment. My concluding thought was "Hmm...It's not THAT bad"

7) I can get lost in a paper bag. I used to live across the street from my old job. I would routinely find myself lost on the wrong side of the city while trying to complete the 3 minute walk or 1 minute drive to and from the office.

8) I'm not technically a masochist, nor am I excessively violent. I just like to fight people who fight well.

9) I have a certain love for enclosed spaces. What would make a claustrophobic scream makes me giggle incessantly.

10) I have, in my entire life, only beat one real video game through. That would be "captain skyhawk" for NES. Yes, the implication is also true. I have played Final Fantasy 7 over 12 times, and yet have never defeated Sephiroth... *sighs*

Goals in Mind

"Goals in Mind"

Much are things to which I do aspire
Desire inspires me to never tire,
But why are the higher things that I admire
Alloted the criminals, thieves, and to liars.

The world all in all seems to lack basic fairness.
It's all too apparent through well spent awareness.
Please answer my question, dear sir, if you hear this:
Just why is integrity such an impairment?

The passion I hold back I've never yet told,
The goals in my soul and the path I'll unfold.
Society's cold and now silen… Continue

My idea of Reality

A brief summary of my views on God and Reality:

First let me state that I HATE WORDS. Words are arbitrary and subject to wild interpretation or changes. Let me further more say that I HATE NUMBERS. Numbers are far too malleable for me, regardless of all scientists who believe they are absolute. I like symbols. So lets create a symbolic view of how I see reality.

The Individual (User, Mind)
The Perception device (TV/Speakers, Eyes/Ears)
The Manipulation device (Controller/Avatar, Brain/Body)
Th… Continue

Perspective is our millstone

For most of us, we have lived in a world of singular perspectives. We are brought up in a certain way, and from that way we often do not depart. I pride myself in having had the extreme fortune of avoiding that part of the cycle.

When I was seven my father told me "You won't be an idealist forever. One day you'll grow up and realize this isn't an ideal world." I promised him that when I'm grown I would show him an uncorrupted son. I am now grown, a father, husband, worker, and all around good g… Continue

And through all this, I still don't know who I am

I'm thinking I am doing better lately. I've been a little off balance. I spend all of my time trying to fulfill requirements to be a certain type of person. A monk, a mystic, a philosopher, but I think it doesn't matter what I am. At this point, it doesn't help nor harm me; classification, names, labels, these will disappear after my death. The problem now is what I do and don't do. That's why I've been off balance. But I'm regaining a foothold on my thoughts. I'm far too dramatic in my thinking… Continue

Finding Focus

Finding Focus:

Focus and clarity
These are what I seek
But I have learned they must be earned
Over days and miles

Looking inside of me
I feel very weak
And it has shown I haven't grown
From my tests and trials

I've found a sense of pride
In my life and self
For what I've done and battles won
And the skills I've gained

In my own mind I hide
Books upon a shelf
In large amounts each one accounts
Tales my life contained

Sheltered in confidence
I avoid the truth
I'm incomplete and can't compete… Continue

I'm not too sure of what you mean by "ignorance of one's own ignorance." Can you clarify that?
Thanks!

Odd you choose to take hubris over the hubrious! Have you tried embracing the ignorant? Since when was it so bad not to know better?

I just read your post on my "Words..." blog-piece and laughed, or rather I guffawed, very loudly. I do find myself waking up singing a song that has been accompanying my dreams. Mind you, waking up singing a song at 4am and then having that song be the one to wake you up with the alarm clock @ 5:20am is a rather surreal feeling. This has happened more than once.

Thank you for your comment.

hehe...funny you should mention it.

Actually, I'm in the process of creating a flier that will supply links so that people will search the truth out for themselves if they even want to take the initiative to do so.

In Hawaii (on the Big island in particular) I really do feel as if 80% of the citizens here are absolutely clueless when it comes to politics in general. I mean, I should know cuz I was one of 'em.

But because of the blessing of not having television and computers galore (my fiance is a computer techie *smile*) we are finding out more information on our own so we can keep up on what's happening beyond the Pacific Ocean.

So yeah...I hope the locals here will make that first step of actually reading what is on the flier that I am planning on distributing beginning of next month.

I'll keep you posted!

Much Mahalo for the comment! ^_^
