Country/State: (eg. Belgium, Florida,...)
Canada Quebec
City/Town: (eg. Antwerp, San Francisco,...)
Montreal
About Me:
My name is Stephanie. I am a very emotional/sentimental person who runs more so on my rational and what I see to be right. I love to write in my journal and love books that make me think or point out how the world/people work. I love to sing and write songs about my feelings, life, and observances. I goof off and mess around a lot, but am also very mellow. My since of adventure is huge and I don't really care for the American dream. Fitting in is not easy for me, but I think that's just because I'm somewhat artsy, idealistic, reserved, geeky, but sensitive and a totally friendship girl. I like sports but am not skilled at them and don't watch them. My hobbies are poetry, music, reading, dance, art, cooking and baking, outdoors, hiking, camping, etc.
Favorite music:
Jazz and Opera: Nicole Norman, Etta James, Norah Jones, Alisha Duo, Josh Groban, Charlotte Church, Pete Johnson, Judy Garland, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles....(and enjoy Broadway too) Rock, Alternative, Indie:, Muse, Mindless Self Indulgence, Cake, Nine Inch Nails, Kate Havnevik, Prince, David Bowie, The Posies, Goo Goo dolls, Janna Adams, Ghost in the Shell (Stand Alone Complex), A Perfect Circle, Tool, Mandy More, Meridith Brooks,Infected Mushroom,...and it goes on
Favorite movies:
Eturnal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, What Dreams May Come (starring Robyn Williams), Family Man, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Pride and Prejudice, Dogma, Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike back, Herald and Kumar, Queen of the Dammed, Interview of the Vampire, The Butterfly Effect
Favorite books:
House of Leaves, Emotional Intelligence By: Daniel Golman, Interview of the Vampire, The Four Loves "By: C.S. Lewis", The Poles by: Stewart Steven, The 7 habits of Highly Effective People by: Stephen R. Covey, The Psychology of Insanity by: Benard Hart, Answers to Distraction by: Edward M. Hallowell, M.D. and John J. Rately, M.D. ....anything that is inspirational and/or informative
Goals/Projects/Aspirations:
Honestly my main motive for a career in general is to inspire, teach, bring out the best in others, and influence...that never changes while the outlets for it always do. I will always be passionate about the outlets that I use my education, skills, and those attributes in, not because of the work, but because it is based on knowing who I am.

I've wanted to be a professional singer, neuroscientist, cosmetologist, writer,....it's always changing but because I like to educate myself and push toward something if anything that I like/am good at, I usually wind up picking whatever I fall into or that is demanded of me (at the time it is public relations/marketing with pursuits in journalism & Cosmetology for a stable/fun backbone if you will.)
Relationship Status:

My ranting tangent on predjudice and ignorance...

What are the three i:power principals that we can apply in the real world as well as on this site?

1. being open minded

2. active thinking

3. putting your vision into practice

Why do I ask this? It's just on the site in the top right hand side...we hear it all the time or see it when we log on. We are constantly reminded by the efforts everyone is making towards the forums, groups, blogs.... I mainly bring this up again because I felt compelled to write about perspectives...in relation to ba… Continue

The Invitation

Well, she took the words right out of my mouth. I have nothing left to say...

The Invitation
By:Oriah Mountain Dreamer

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dreams
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have… Continue

Ignorance...Religious or non religious

Humm...a while ago when I visited the utilities office in town I stopped to speak with the guy at the coffee shop. I know him and his brother as aquantances, his younger brother knew britt...an old friend of mine, and we had similar backgrounds/interests so we always chatted a bit when I had time. He has been going to one of churches I used to go to when I was younger and more devout to Christianity. More recently he told me he decided that he is going to become a Christian...then asked me what… Continue

Where i'm at...

I feel somewhat low on the totem pole and a little removed...rubbing sticks together to make a spark and bottling up a lot of emotion for only the special few who I know can handle it at the time. Maybe if I'm lucky someone will help upgrade me to making a wheel too...then eventually I'll be ready in the right direction to be beyond that but a successful woman (the kind I want to be independently and always holding my own, always reliable, always resourceful through my own means)...making flying… Continue

Variation On the Word Sleep

This has to be one of my most favorite poems in the entire world. I love it! What I love about poetry is that sometimes it is literally the only thing you can use to describe something so deep and close at the tip of your tongue when it is hardly describable at all. Margret Atwood is amazing at doing so I think.

Variation On The Word Sleep
By :Margret Atwood

I would like to watch you sleeping,
which may not happen.
I would like to watch you,
sleeping. I would like to sleep
with you, to enter

To Ask For A Woman's Heart

I don't know who wrote this but I like it...it was once in a wonderful book I read...a collection of multiple poems

To Ask For a Woman's Heart

Do you know you have asked for the costliest thing
ever made by the hand above?
A woman's heart, and a woman's life...
And a woman's wonderful love.
Do you know you have asked for the priceless thing
As a child might ask for a toy?
Demanding what others have died to win,
With the reckless dash of a boy.
You have written my lesson of duty
Manlike, you ha… Continue

Neuroscience and Pharmaceuticals/Part 3

Part 3: Psychiatric Medication

Today, there are a variety of treatments and chemical correction substances prescribed for the dysfunctions of the mind. "Psychiatric medications…as do all drugs...carry risks as well as benefits. But there can be very serious consequences to not taking them too."-Dr. Levy

Scientists have seen the chemical differences between a healthy brain and a brain in need of medication to restore its neuron formation and chemical composition health.

"Psychiatric medication… Continue

Hey I checked out your profile and I saw you liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! that movie is freaking amazing and it's funny cause my brother and I talked about how we both connected with Joel during the whole movie and saw a lot of him in ourselves.
