Sooooo, I promised I would keep updated by blogging, and I'm gonna stick with it. Last week has been a pretty slack week for me - a bit of a slip in my rhythm, but I'm picking it back up this week.
The fitness challenge is going OK I guess.. I finished last week (2) on 53 crunches and 27 push-ups for exhaustion. That's a minor improvement on push-ups, and zero improvement on crunches from the previous week, which could be disappointing at first, but when I check the training program, it turns out I'm still ahead.. so I'm not gonna feel bad about it :P I just completed day 2 of week 3, and I've gotta say, it's getting pretty challenging! I'm not sure whether it's normal/expected, but I haven't been meeting all my targets for the push-up sets, especially today. I mean, I know I'm going to be able to do more than 27 push-ups at the end of this week, but I'm just wondering whether I should repeat this week or not. I was thinking about it last week actually, but since I was clear on the third bracket on exhaustion, I just went ahead with the program. We'll see what happens on day 3.. I'm taking a rest tomorrow and will do day 3 on Friday.
Marathon training.. I'm actually disappointed with my performance over the past week. I didn't really set high goals.. I said I would do a 2 hour 40km session, and only ended up doing 25km. The thing is, I wasn't really exhausted or even tired .. I guess I was getting restless / impatient. I ended up only doing a total of 85km over the week, which is not good at all. This week I'm definitely working on discipline, starting tomorrow morning. I'm gonna try something new.. instead of listening to music all the time while I ride, I'm going to actually listen to The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People audio-book, which is something I've been meaning to do for a while, and should be awesome. I'm actually looking forward to it.
University also restarted for me last week, so I'm trying to be proactive about getting back into study mode (hehe, "back into", like I was ever there). I've never really taken study seriously in the past, but since I'm only doing 1 unit this semester, I'm definitely taking it seriously and setting my goals high. Meanwhile, I'm also gonna get more serious on the job-front - going to visit actual businesses instead of just applying online. This is probably the most serious area I need to work on, but there's a lot of anxiety I need to work through concerning my experience/credentials, and the current economic climate (gah!). But yeah, I know it's irrational.. after all, I'm not looking for a full career, just something part time.. and in any case, forwards is the only direction to move in, so I'm gonna keep going!
Whew.. that's it for the past week. Catch you guys up again next time :-&
